Time flies when you are brewing beer. Jeff Lampan of SLOBS (San Luis Obispo Brewers) won our annual homebrew competition back in 2013 with his incredible Russian Imperial Stout recipe. We brewed the beer and aged it in Red Wine and Whiskey barrels. At the time our then Head Brewer used all of the stout in a dark barrel aged blend without informing Jeff. A year went by and Jeff came by for a barrel sample on a beer that did not exist anymore. This did not sit well with the Figueroa Mountain team, so we paired up to brew the beer again! Our Comrade Lampman is a big bold stout. Aging just over two years in Red Wine and Whiskey barrels, it has rich flavors of smoke, coffee, licorice, and a depth of dark stonefruit qualities. Whiskey notes are prominent just the way we like it! At 11% this beer is a sipper and best enjoyed with a friend and a good story. Cheers to our good friend Jeff! На здоровье! "Nah-Zda-Rhov-Yeh!"
