As part of our Short Tank series of collaboration beers, Monster Melons was created by Jarod Morgan, a member of the Valley Brewers homebrew club. This saison uses a unique blend of saison yeast strains known as Dr. Saisonstein's Monster from Omega Labs. This blend imparts wonderful aromas and flavors of plums, cherries, and other stone fruits. Jarod used Huell Melon as the lone hop varietal in this beer. The hops impart delicate floral characteristics as well as subtle notes of cantaloupe and honeydew melon. The beer balances these fruity notes with pronounced notes of fresh baked bread from the over 60% of wheat malt used. Be careful at this Saison's drinkability because the true alcohol content that lurks beneath is Monstrous!
