Our next big SF Beer Week collaboration comes to us via our former brewer Collin McDonnell, now an owner/brewer/poobah emeritus at HenHouse Brewing in Petaluma. A few months back, he invited our crew up for a collab brew of a Belgian dark strong on his original small system to be barrel-aged in Four Roses bourbon barrels. Then a few weeks ago, the process continued with a second, fresh 15bbl brew of this beer, this time at Drake’s. The two brews were then blended together, and Bourbon Induced Fowl Play was laid.
This beer is no grouse. It appoaches the style of Belgian dubbel, with a dominant malt character thanks to a generous helping of lark caramel malt, followed by a bit of cinnamon spiciness from the yeast. Then takes one last tern with a slight peck of bourbon from the barrel.
Promote your beer to thirsty patrons looking for it.
