Shake out from Aroma Coma with Aroma Prieta. Aroma Coma’s sister beer mirrors its twin starting with primarily American 2-row barley malt and a touch of Caramalt and Rye for body. From there, we turn things upside down. Prieta leaves behind Aroma Coma’s North American hops for some Southern Hemisphere hop action. New Zealand hops Nelson Sauvin, Pacific Jade, and Motueka in the double dry-hop give Aroma Prieta huge aromas of tropical fruit, gooseberries, and grapefruit. Like Aroma Coma but different: breathe in these hops and enjoy. Available October 2014.
THE AROMA PRIETA STORY:
In 2010, we came up with a beer called Aroma Prieta as a counterpart to our Aroma Coma, but we lacked just the right hops to make it unique. Just in the past year or two, American craft brewers have discovered the hops grown in New Zealand with their fascinating aromas of lemons, mango, tropical fruit, gooseberries, and even white wine grapes. When we got our hands on enough of these hops, we knew we had stumbled upon the right ingredients to create Aroma Prieta the way it was meant to be. Drink next to Aroma Coma, and you’re sure to get a good idea of the differences between the Pacific Northwest and New Zealand hop growing regions.
