October 28, 2017 11:00AM - 1:00PM at Bricktown Brewery - Wichita Rock Road
All of the efforts during the Empty Bowls season will culminate in the delicious grand finale — a chili cook-off and we will be providing Bricktown Chili for the cook off!
In exchange for your donation, choose a bowl to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. Select your favorite bowl from hundreds of handmade ceramic vessels, fill it to the brim with over 25 varieties of chili donated by chili lovers and local celebrity chefs, and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon. All proceeds will benefit the Kansas Food Bank in honor of Hunger Awareness Month.
A jury of local chefs, community leaders and President Bardo diligently sample the chilies and do the hard work of selecting winners for Best Chili, Best Vegetarian/Vegan chili and Best Traditional Chili. Trophies are designed and custom made each year by the ADCI students.
In addition, the event also features the Wichita National—a juried exhibition and silent auction to benefit EMPTY BOWLS, of fine ceramics works by WSU alumni and professional national artists. This is a great way to get a work of art while supporting the effort to end hunger in our community.
Last year, the Empty Bowls Chili Cook-Off welcomed almost 1,000 people and raised over $17,000 for the Kansas Food Bank. This event has grown every year since 2013, and this year will be the biggest yet!
All proceeds from the silent auction and ticket sales go to the Kansas Food Bank.
