He is the author of the book, “Bourbon Whiskey – Our Native Spirit” and host of the popular website; whiskeyprof.com Bernie has written a performance he calls, Bourbon Thru Bluegrass in which he incorporates live bluegrass music with a tasting of Heaven Hill Whiskies that shows how bourbon evolved from the unaged corn whiskey from the 1700’s, and evolved in to the small batch and single barrel bourbons of today. Here’s an overview of that show:Imagine a Ken Burns documentary on bourbon brought to life through live bluegrass music. Then all throughout the performance, you actually experience the evolution of bourbon by tasting the different whiskies and bourbon that folks were drinking starting back in the 1700’s; then move to what they were drinking throughout the 1800’s, all the way up through present day, and you have; Bourbon Thru Bluegrass. In this show Bernie will also be playing songs written by, and in the style of Merle Travis who took a type of thumb and finger picking to a whole new level.
