Restraint is one of our most popular beers and the beer that we are most proud of here at Institution. We felt it appropriate to make our first anniversary beer an Imperial version of our flagship Brown Ale. Imperial Restraint is a big (10.1% ABV) American Brown Ale. Just like Restraint, this beer is aged on Hard Maple Wood to add complexity and a hint a woodsy maple sweetness. Unlike Restraint, this beer also gets treated with Tahitian vanilla beans and Beacon Coffee Company's XX Espresso Blend. What's the result? An incredibly creamy and complex Brown Ale with layers of chocolate, cherry, caramel, roasted coffee, licorice, and dark fruit. ABV: 10.1%, IBU 80, SRM 25.8

Hindrance is a bone-dry Double IPA that is loaded with a handful of our favorite hops, primarily Simcoe. The huge aroma and flavors are everything you'd want in a good Double IPA - tons of pine, layers of juicy tropical fruit, and a dank/resiny finish. We held the abv in check (7.9%) to keep the beer crisp, lighter bodied, and super refreshing for the hot days of Summer.

Institution Progress Pale Series: Simcoe

Our 2nd installment in the Progress Pale Series. This beer is nearly identical to its predecessor, HBC-342, except that it is brewed primarily with Simcoe hops, giving it a pine and citrus hop characteristic. This beer's secondary hop is centennial and its bittering hop is Warrior. 200 gallons produced. ABV: 6.3%, IBU 50, SRM 10.

Relapse is an Imperial Red Rye that has more malt backbone than our other hoppy beers. It is dosed heavily with citrus and fruit forwards hops (Centennial, Amarillo, & Citra). As the beer lingers on the palate, the big hop flavors and aromas make way to even bigger malt profiles. The beer's sweetness and heavy mouthfeel balance out the initial bitterness and dry rye finish that continues to sit on the palate. ABV: 8.5%, IBU: 65, SRM 15
