Through all the German style beers that we have produced over the last year (and will continue to produce for the remainder of the year), all have had one constant; all were lagers. For the summer we wanted to release one of the few German ale styles; Kolsch.
Kolsch is traditionally from Cologne, Germany. A top-fermented, clear bright straw-yellow colored. Fermented warmer than lagers, but then cold conditioned for an extended amount of time; Kolsch is crisp, clean and overall delicious.
Our Kolsch was brewed with 100% German Malt (Pilsner, Vienna, Carafoam and Acidulated) and lightly hopped with German grown Hallertau Tradition for a light spiced hop character. It was then fermented with a traditional Kolsch strain.
A perfect complimentary beer to take us through the late summer and into the on-coming fall.
