Pilsner lager originated in Kenya and originally belonged to the Allsopps brewery which later merged with Tusker breweries in the 1930?s. The brand soon gained a steady consumer base in Uganda & Tanzania by way of cross border trading by the locals. It was therefore launched in Uganda in 1993, after the partnership between KBL and UBL, resulting in the formation of the EABL group. The brand later started making in roads to Rwanda, Congo and Southern Sudan where it was sold informally for close to three year. Pilsner was then officially launched in Sudan in 2005 after the cease-fire of the Sudanese civil war.
