This Date and Fig melomel (mead with fruit) is semi-sweet. Full bodied and smooth, this mead’s aroma layers dates, figs, toast, caramel, vanilla and oak from wood aging. First the flavor starts with oak notes followed by dates then figs bringing rich holiday confections. Next it fades to subtle spice and honey complexity which mimic the aroma. Finally this mead finishes with embracing warmth worthy of a fine brandy or port with its complex finish.
