A famous style, originating in the 18th century to enhance public relations with the czarist court of Russia, this beer was made strong to prevent freezing during shipment from England. The fairly low carbonation enhances the malt profile and the rich mouth feel exudes big flavors of dark cherries and raisins, with just enough roast flavors to give a nice coffee and toffee finish. The color profile is very dark with deep tawny red undertones and the richness of the alcohol leaves you with a delightful warm feeling
