Boondocks' nod to Pumpkin season, yes actual pumpkins are used, is released each Halloween (as opposed to sometime in August like many others). Using their popular JMB Stout as a the base, pumpkin is added during whirlpool to provide the initial pumpkin back notes. Once fermentation is complete, pumpkins are roasted with spices and brown sugar to create a rich pumpkin puree that is then introduced to the fermenter using Boondocks Hop Back tank. To further add to the robust flavor profile, bourbon soaked oak spirals are added to the tank and allowed to condition the beer for 2 weeks prior to moving to kegs.
