Bombshell Pirate Queen

Inspired by the fiery, red-headed pirate Anne Bonny, this hazy and slightly-orange colored IPA features Cryogenically processed Loral and Cascade hops and Columbus hops. You’ll find bold citrus notes that finish smooth and dry on the palate.
Anne Bonny was born in Ireland and moved to England at a young age and, then to what is now North Carolina where she owned and ran a tavern with her husband. One day, Pirate Calico Jack visited the tavern, and soon after, Bonny left her husband and took up piracy with Calico Jack. She was a bold woman of the times, much like this double IPA.
Symbolism abounds in this beer. Irish, English and American malts were used to represent Bonny. Cascade, Loral and Columbus (CA L CO) hops represent Calico Jack. A female pirate was an uncommon occurrence, much like being a female brewery owner in modern times. Ellen Joyner, one of Bombshell’s 3 female owners is also an alum of East Carolina University, whose mascot is coincidently a pirate!
