Dunkel just means 'dark'. Ours is dark brown with a garnet tint and flavors of bread crusts and chocolate. Munich earned its reputation as a renowned brewing city making this dark classic 'liquid bread'. This was back when drinking water would straight kill you. Our ancestors drank all the time; they were probably more fun than we are.
