Named for a 12th century Benedictine Abbess who was a philosopher, visionary, healer, writer and composer. She is credited with popularizing the use of hops as a preservative in beer. In a way she is the mother of IPA. She is also considered one of the earliest feminists, she used her position as a mystic to further and enhance the position of women.
