The aroma is predominantly pine tar with a bit of citrus fruit. The malt smells comes across as lightly nutty. The flavor of the malt is presented as nuts and caramel but is overpowered by pine cones and citrus fruit (from the Citra hop used). The beer finishes semi-spicy followed by a rye flavor and then culminates with a pleasurable, lingering hop bitterness.
