Zoigl Star is a golden, unfiltered lager. This particular style of beer was originally brewed only in the region of Eastern Bavaria between Franconia and the Czech Republic. The Zoigl Star symbol itself dates back to the middle ages, when this six-angular shape similar to the Star of David was the sign of brewers. Half of the points in the star represent either a natural element such as earth, air or fire; while the other half represent water, malt, and hops, the three main ingredients used for brewing. The importance of the yeast was not yet known in the 1400’s.
