Alvarado Street Brewery Anniversary Ale No. 3

To celebrate our Anniversary, we brew a rich, “motor oil”– like high gravity stout and then age it for a minimum of 8 months in Kentucky bourbon barrels. This year, for our 3rd anniversary, the bourbon barrels came from Heaven Hill and Four Roses in Kentucky. The base beer is a big, dark ale with notes of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and burnt caramel. After aging in oak for 8 months, the char from the wood imparts a rich vanilla character.
